PostSubject: Electric Vests   Fri Dec 28, 2007 9:42 pm

I have been using a Widder Lectric-vest for about two years. Two weeks ago it quit working and I assumed it was the vest. Turns out it was a worn out cord. The insulation was cracked and the two wires were shorted. I called Widder Enterprises and told them my plight. They said if I sent back the worn out cord they would replace it. Got the new cord the other day via UPS and I am a warm and happy camper again. Good job Widder. That's Widder Lectric-Heat at 800-WYB-COLD (992-2653).

Just rode my 996. The battery connection for the vest/battery tender is on the right side of the bike whereas the vest connection is on the left. With this arrangement my coiled 24" cord is between my gut and the tank with no extra wires hanging. With my tank protector I don't worry about rub marks on the tank paint. But beware, with this same wiring route, and using a switched cord, you risk having the paint on your tank damaged by the relatively sharp edges on the switch (I actually messed up the paint on the tank of my '95 900 SS SP before I clued in).
